Evangelos (Vangelis) Gazis (PhD, MBA) is Chief Architect for IoT Security in Huawei where he brings more than 20 years of experience across research, development, innovation, standardisation and policy to oversee the technology roadmap of common security capabilities for the IoT domain. He regularly serves on expert bodies of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), the Technical Committee on Cybersecurity (TC CYBER) of ETSI, the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO), the Directorate General (DG) MOVE of the European Commission (EC), on technology and policy matters in regard to IoT, 5G, C-ITS, and AI.

In the domain of the Internet of Things, developments in the standardisation arena as well as in matters of technology policy have shown a rapid proliferation over the recent years. As a result, a diverse portfolio of initiatives has emerged, both in Europe as well as globally, as standardisation bodies and policy stakeholders address cybersecurity and policy concerns. This talk will present major initiatives in IoT standards and policies, and highlight the areas where regional approaches converge into common practice and patterns.
