George Karagiannidis

Professor of Digital Communication Systems - Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

George K. Karagiannidis is currently Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Dept. and Head of Wireless Communications & Information Processing (WCIP) Group. He is also Honorary Professor at South West Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. His research interests fall in the broad area of Digital Communications Systems and Signal Processing, with emphasis on Wireless Communications, Optical Wireless Communications, Wireless Power Transfer and Communications & Signal Processing for Biomedical Engineering. He has been involved as General Chair, Technical Program Chair and member of Technical Program Committees in several IEEE and non-IEEE conferences. In the past, he was Editor in several IEEE journals and from 2012 to 2015 he was the Editor-in Chief of IEEE Communications Letters. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor-in Chief of IEEE Open Journal of Communications Society. Dr. Karagiannidis is IEEE Fellow and has been recognized from Clarivate Analytics as Web-of-Science Highly Cited Researcher in the six consecutive years 2015-2020.

Από τις Φρυκτωρίες στα Ασύρματα Δίκτυα 5G

Στην αρχή θα παρουσιαστεί το θεμελιώδες μοντέλο επικοινωνίας Shannon-Weaver και στη συνέχεια θα γίνει μια ιστορική αναδρομή για την εξέλιξη της επικοινωνίας, από την εποχή των Φρυκτωριών στην αρχαία Ελλάδα έως τα ασύρματα δίκτυα 5G and Beyond. Θα αναφερθούν και θα συζητηθούν οι βασικοί σταθμοί σε αυτή τη διαδρομή καθώς και το πως οι τηλεπικοινωνίες άλλαξαν τον σύγχρονο κόσμο.
